These gifts for 12 year old boys are sure to please!
Action- In this in between stage of kid and young man, 12 year olds still have lots of energy to be used up. Flag football with his friends, a pickup game of basketball, some skateboard tricks in the driveway, practicing some jumps with his bike. All this spells action. In today’s world of Instagram and Snapchat, being able to record yourself makes sharing with their friends so much easier. A GoPro to take action shots would be a big plus.
Technology- We all know by this age, they are going to want the latest technological gadget. For many that may be a new phone but for others that may look like a r/c drone or a hoverboard. Got someone that’s computer minded? What about giving them the tools to learn about robotics? Starting with some simple and fun robots and learning some kid friendly coding, they can be having fun and setting themselves up for the future as well.
Creativity- With all the video games pulling at their attention, anything that a 12 year old can get involved in that’s not a video game is a great thing. Being able to not stifle their brain, keeps the brain moving which of course is of great importance for keeping that schoolwork up. There are plenty of ideas. It’s just a matter of finding one that they like and going with it. 1. Lego: Lego has tons of sets meant for this age group especially if they are a Star Wars or Minecraft lover. 2. Robotics: program your robot to do all kinds of things and impress your family with your skill level. 3. Science Kit/Magic tricks: Whichever they are more inclined to, both allow for exploration and increase in knowledge and skill level. 4. Stop Motion Animation: Get them involved in beginning video editing. Using clay or minifigures from lego or minecraft, they can create their own stop motion video using an app on their phone or tablet or software on their computer.
Fun- r/c helicopters, r/c cars, Nerf, Laser Tag, etc. Seasonal fun is an idea as well- Summer (water park tickets, theme park tickets) Fall (favorite sports team tickets)

It’s helpful to watch an episode of the Amazing Race on youtube to give you some great ideas on how you can set yours up.
